The history of Los Cabos began with indigenous Pericúes, followed by Spanish exploration in the 16th century. Hernán Cortés himself landed here in 1535. Later, it became a strategic point for Spanish galleons, attracting English and Dutch pirates, until Jesuit missionaries established settlements in the 18th century, profoundly shaping the region's early development.
